Because files would ‘skip’, cutting-and-pasting them meant users would have inadvertently deleted the files they had wished to move across.

Users who copy-and-pasted compressed files could have been given the impression their files were seamlessly copied over, before subsequently deleting the compressed folder. The fix, released with Build Microsoft had initially warned users with version not to cut and paste items from compressed folders.
